“Alexis is in another league”

I have worked with very good designers and enjoyed the process. Alexis is in another league. What I had thought I wanted her to do when I contacted her was to help me buy a sofa and loveseat for our living room. She gave our home so much more than that.

Alexis listens closely to her clients to see who they are and how she can help them. Before talking about the living room, she asked me to give her a tour of our home so she could get a sense of my style - it was only after that tour that we sat down in the living room for her to listen to me describe what I wanted.

And then after that first meeting, she sent me suggestions for a sofa and loveseat and said, since you’re paying me for this, I thought I’d add one more possibility. I knew it wasn’t what I wanted. A month or so later, I realized it was exactly what I wanted.

I also, because of Alexis, moved a painting into the living room that I had been sure I wanted to keep in my study. That painting and the new configuration of the living room have totally changed the feel of the room, making it relaxing, balanced, and inviting.

Alexis has established connections with craftspeople in the area which include a truly skilled upholsterer, a couple who impressively restore and also make furniture, and a wallpaperer who also does great restoration. I hadn’t been planning on doing these projects until I saw the difference Alexis’s ideas were making in our home. She doesn’t push you to do things - she just puts ideas out there for you to consider.

Alexis is smart, creative, a quick thinker, and funny. Our projects are just about done now, and I’m going to miss working with her.

She did a great job of picking out paint colors, light fixtures and everything else for 3 gutted bathrooms, I would have had no idea where to start! She is a master at designing a plan that makes sense throughout the house. Initially, we added elegant light fixtures and changed paint.
